If you are looking for a new wine opener, then you have probably experienced some of the shortcomings of other products. From the original pull corkscrew and its different modifications to the newer styles of wine openers that you screw in and then push down on, all have their failures. The Vertical Rabbit wine opener makes opening a bottle of wine the easiest process imaginable. To accomplish this all that is required is to raise the lever and place the wine opener on the neck of the bottle of wine, then depress the lever that inserts the corkscrew into the cork. Pull the lever back up and withdraw the cork and remove the wine opener from the bottle. Depress and raise the lever one more time, and the cork falls out of the device into your hand, the counter, or event he trash. Now put the wine opener back up and enjoy your wine. It is really that simple.

Before using it for myself, it was hard to believe how effortless it made opening a bottle of wine, but now without a doubt it is an essential piece of wine drinking equipment. I have never yet taken it on an airplane trip with me since I don’t check bags, but it is with me on any driving vacation in which a bottle of wine will be opened at the end destination.

Other features that come with the Vertical Rabbit are a foil cutter to cut the foil around the neck of the bottle prior to opening, a spare corkscrew for replacement if needed, and a storage case to keep it all in and stored together.

In this reviewer’s opinion, there is no better candidate for the title of best wine opener than the Metrokane Vertical Rabbit. If you are looking for a quality piece of equipment to enhance your wine enjoyment then get one of these for your collection as soon as possible.

Last but not least, a couple of other minor options that could be nice to have, but not at the same level as the items above. You can use this one when you aren’t looking for preservation like the Houdini stopper above or even for the wine pourer stopper, but more of a quick plug and play stopper with some character. Like everything else Metrokane, this is a solid wine accessory. And the Metrokane Vacuum Wine Stoppers, Set of 4 is the add on to the wine preserver above giving you more stoppers so that you can preserve more bottles of wine if need be. It seems like you can never have enough of these and don’t want to be caught without one when you need it.
